TST Philosophy is a science-first philosophy grounded in flourishing, the split between reality and thought, and pragmatic humility toward stories of the unknown and unknowable.

TST Philosophy

By Michael Alan Prestwood

TST Philosophy’s structure moves from purpose, to reality, to judgment, to self-correction, to better reasoning. At the top is one goal: flourishing, guiding both personal morality and group ethics. Beneath that is a two-layered metaphysics focused on what we can meaningfully work with: reality itself and our thoughts about it. From there, the Three Truth Hammers help test claims at the social level, the Four Mind Traps help us spot where thinking goes wrong, and the Five Thought Tools help us think more clearly and wisely. Together, the system aims to help us live well, think well, and stay intellectually honest in a world where certainty is limited but better judgment is possible.

TST 5-Step Overview
TST Philosophy
Enjoy the journey, but ground it in truth and honor. Refine your beliefs against reality, act with integrity even when unseen, and reduce harm where possible. Life is not perfection — it is ongoing alignment between understanding, responsibility, and the shared systems we influence.

1 Goal: Flourish (TST Ethics)
TST Ethics
Flourishing requires calibration. TST Ethics integrates intent, consequence, proportionality, and systemic impact within a two-layer reality. It respects law, reduces harm, and refines responsibility as awareness grows. Personal morality and group ethics are not separate domains — they are scaled expressions of fairness lived within real constraints.

2 Layers: The Material World Split
Beyond Words: Laozi and the Limits of Understanding
Our ideas about the material world are only a reflection of reality. They cannot fully describe all angles. This split between the material world and our empirical ideas about it are key to understanding our valid rational ideas and what are invalid irrational ideas.

5-4-3: TST Framework Overview
Critical Thinking
The TST Framework is a critical thinking framework with three key components: Thought Tools, Mind Traps, and Truth Hammers. Together, these elements provide a structured approach to understanding and evaluating information. The Five Thought Tools help you gather, frame, and communicate accurate information, the Four Mind Traps help you avoid potholes, and the Three Truth Hammers help you short circuit the gathering of accurate information.
