In testimony to Congress on 5/1/2019, Barr testified to Congress. Lawyers and law-n-order folk all over the country are very upset today.
Here are my reactions and conclusions:
- Today Republicans stated in public that Barr’s responses make it appear that he has yet to read the Mueller report.
- Kamala Harris drew blood! Barr tried to skate and lie, but it’s clear the Trump administration requested in some way that the DOJ open an investigation. Wow! Impeach Barr now! This is America and separation of powers from the DOJ and the White House is a core feature of our Constitution and one of the elements that separates us from banana republics.
- Barr admitted he made a prosecution decision without looking at the evidence. Up to this point, we all thought Barr looked at the evidence and came to a different conclusion than Mueller. Barr admitted that as of this date he STILL HAS NOT LOOKED AT MUELLER’S EVIDENCE!

Barr described Mueller’s letter as “snitty”.

Some Trump Supporters Miss-Read this Letter
It’s funny how Trump Supporters read whatever they want to read into things. Reality matters. Truth matters.
For example, the truth about Mueller’s letter would SHOCK any Trump supporter. In Mueller’s letter, Mueller describes his OWN WORK as follows:
“As we stated in our meeting of March 5 and reiterated to the Department early in the afternoon of March 24, the introductions and executive summaries of our two-volume report accurately summarize this Office’s work and conclusions.”
Notice Mueller mentions that they’ve discussed this several times including on March 5. Mueller is documenting for history in these written letters. This has NEVER happened before in the history of the United States.
Now, in the next sentence, Mueller describes Barr’s summary:
“The summary letter the Department sent to Congress and released to the public late in the afternoon of March 24 did not fully capture the context, nature, and substance of this Office’s work and conclusions.”
Mueller’s description of Barr’s “summary” is devastating. Mueller literally says Barr got the “context”, “nature”, and “substance” wrong. Wow, what else is there? Nothing. Mueller in his professional way is LOUDLY telling the world BARR IS LYING!!!
