Trump Killed 58,947 Trump Voters in September 2021

The title of this post is outrageous. It is the type of hyperbolic title used by the far right and others trying to stoke fear and hate. I feel it is occasionally necessary and acceptable to use this technique in a type of parody to both stress a viewpoint, and to highlight the damage of hyperbolic titles.

Okay, now for the viewpoint which is based on a thread of truth.

Approximately 59,000 of the 60,000 covid deaths in September 2021 were Trumpsters or anti-vaxxers. Fauci today stressed that you are 57 times more likely to die from Covid-19 if you are not vaccinated. It is fairly reasonable to assume most unvaccinated are Trump supporters and the rest are anti-vaxxers or at least vaccine resistant. Trump is the leader of the anti-vaccine movement including anti-vaxxers, anti-maskers, anti-social distancing, and bizarre untested treatments. In a real sense, Trump’s movement is responsible for many of the covid deaths in America, and some around the world. Assuming 56/57 deaths are Trump supporters and 60,000 deaths, then Trump contributed at least a bit to the death of 58,947 of his supporters in the month of September 2021.

The reality is that September 2021 was the deadliest pandemic month in a year with over 60,000 American covid deaths. It was the deadliest month since Feb 2020. Reality also includes the fact that restrictions on living a normal life will continue until the pandemic is over. Furthermore, Trump’s movement is lessening our pandemic fighting efforts. Trump and his supporters are directly hindering my and your ability to lead a normal life. The collective frustration of the vaccinated toward the unvaccinated is rising.

As a final note, I don’t mind saying that if 60,000 Americans a month have to die, I’m glad they are mostly Trump supporters and anti-vaxxers. After all, there’s a certain amount of karma in the death of Trump supporters. Despite the idiocy of Trump supporters believing conspiracy theories, dead people cannot vote.

Natural Philosopher

Mike’s throwback title simply means he writes about philosophy, science, critical thinking, and history with a focus on exploring boundaries and intersections. While his focus is on our rational ideas about empirical observations, he does enjoy dabbling in the irrational. His exploration of human thought led him to develop his Idea of Ideas which allows him to understand what is empirically true, rationally true, and irrationally false.
