Manage or Repair TST Practice

Having trouble with the TST Practice app?
You can reinstall it, restore a missing icon,
or remove it using your browser’s app tools.

Microsoft Edge — Windows / Desktop

Edge provides an app-management page where you can
view and manage installed web apps.


edge://apps

Copy the address above, paste it into the Edge address bar,
and press Enter.

From there you may be able to:

  • Open TST Practice
  • View app details
  • Create or restore shortcuts
  • Pin the app
  • Uninstall TST Practice

Google Chrome — Windows / Desktop

Chrome also provides a page for managing installed web apps.


chrome://apps

Copy the address above, paste it into the Chrome address bar,
and press Enter.

Depending on your Chrome version, you can use the app
management options there to open, manage, or remove
installed web apps.

Microsoft Edge — Android

Edge on Android handles web apps a little differently
from desktop Edge.

Open TST Practice in Edge and open the
⋯ browser menu.

Look for an option such as:

  • Install
  • Add to phone
  • Add to Home screen

If TST Practice is already installed but its icon has
disappeared from your Home screen, Edge may still consider
the app installed.

Open TST Practice in Edge again and use the browser’s
Install / Add to Home screen option.
Edge may offer to restore the missing icon.

Note:
Removing the TST Practice icon from your Android Home screen
may remove only the shortcut. It does not necessarily
uninstall the web app from Edge.

Google Chrome — Android

Chrome-installed web apps generally integrate more directly
with Android.

To remove TST Practice, try:


Android Settings → Apps → TST Practice → Uninstall

You may also be able to long-press the TST Practice icon
and choose App Info or Uninstall.

Reinstall TST Practice

If you removed TST Practice and want it back, return to
this installation page using the browser you want associated
with the app.

If your browser believes TST Practice is already installed
but the icon is missing, first try the browser’s
Install or
Add to Home screen option.

You may not need to fully uninstall and reinstall the app
just to restore its icon.

TST Practice updates automatically.

You normally do not need to reinstall TST Practice when
we make improvements. The app and website are updated
through your browser automatically.

If Something Seems Stuck

Before reinstalling, try these simple steps:

  1. Close TST Practice.
  2. Close and reopen your browser.
  3. Reload the TST Practice installation page.
  4. Check the browser’s Install or App options again.
  5. Restart your device if necessary.

Clearing browser cache is usually unnecessary and should
not be required for normal TST Practice updates.

Browser support for installable web apps continues to evolve.
The exact wording and location of installation and management
options may vary by browser, operating system, and version.

Safari — iPhone / iPad

Safari can install TST Practice as a web app on your iPhone or iPad.

  1. Open TST Practice in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button.
  3. Tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Turn on Open as Web App.
  5. Tap Add.

TST Practice will receive its own Home Screen icon and open in an app-style window.

To remove it, touch and hold the TST Practice icon and choose the remove/delete option.

Recommended: Use Safari when installing TST Practice on an iPhone or iPad.

Firefox — Windows

Current versions of Firefox for Windows support web apps.

Open TST Practice in Firefox and look for the Web App button in the address bar. Firefox can install the site into its own app-style window and add it to the Windows Start menu.

Firefox web apps require Firefox 143 or newer. Microsoft Store installations require Firefox 150 or newer.

Firefox web apps are currently supported on Windows, but not Firefox desktop on macOS or Linux.

Firefox — Android

Firefox for Android supports installable web apps.

  1. Open TST Practice in Firefox.
  2. Tap the ⋮ menu.
  3. Tap Install.
  4. Add the TST Practice icon to your Home screen.

TST Practice is still being tested across Android browsers. If you experience problems, Microsoft Edge is currently our preferred Android browser.

Firefox — iPhone / iPad

Firefox can add TST Practice to the Home screen, but we recommend Safari for the full Apple web-app installation experience.

In Firefox, open the Share menu and choose Add to Home Screen.

For TST Practice on iPhone or iPad, Safari is recommended.

Tips

Android Tips:

  • Use Edge browser. Chrome browser fails when you switch to another app.
  • Set Background play=On for Read aloud. 

Edge tips:

  • Manual install: browse to TST Practice: Settings > Add to phone (not download this page) > Install.

Chrome tips:

  • Manual install: browse to TST Practice: Settings > Install and create shortcut > Install.

iOS Tips:

  • None yet. 

Desktop Tips:

  • Both Chrome and Edge work well.
  • You can install both if desired. 
Edge Tips:
  • edge://apps to manage Edge PWA apps.
Chrome Tips:
  • chrome://apps to manage Chrome PWA apps.
