Code of Hammurabi
Law
The Code of Hammurabi was not modern justice, but it was a major step toward legal civilization. It helped replace personal revenge with public rules, preserved laws in writing, and influenced later legal thinking. Its brutality also reminds us that justice evolves as societies refine their view of human dignity.

Evolution
Evolution is not about desire, nor is it a contest of strength, or intellect. It’s about reproductive success. The individuals, and species, that possess traits best suited for the current environment are more likely to survive, and to pass on those traits. Over millennia, these traits accumulate, leading to races, sub-species, and eventually separate species unable to interbreed.

Did Einstein’s driver really give one of his early talks?
Public Belief
The Einstein driver story reminds us that meaningful stories are not automatically true stories. History depends on sources, testimony, documents, and verification. A legend can still teach humility or simplicity, but without evidence, confidence should stay low. Believe the lesson if it helps; question the history until it is supported.

The Human Story in Time
World history from prehistory to our time.
History traces the arc of humanity from the earliest hominin artifacts through post-medieval civilization and into what we call “Our Time.” It studies how ideas, cultures, technologies, and power structures evolve under real-world pressures. Dates are not arbitrary—they frame how we interpret meaning, continuity, and change.
